HST Real Talk
This week, I went deep into this interview with Hunter S. Thompson. It's not the typical off-the-wall interview with him playing the part of gonzo journalist, but a sharper more level conversation with a pro writer/journalist. Maybe he was sober or hungover during the interview. Or, maybe he was just offering this version of himself because he was talking with writers from the Paris Review. I don't know.
One of my favorite lines in the interview though:
"I learned at the age of fifteen that to get by you had to find the one thing you can do better than anybody else . . . at least this was so in my case. I figured that out early. It was writing. It was the rock in my sock. "
So today I'm asking: What's the rock in your sock?
