#129: Swim Call

Swim Call
Care for a dip? Meet Swim Call, a 20-page photo magazine printed on 11.5" x 15" newsprint about all things swimming. No words, just photos.
Why did I publish Swim Call? Partly because I wanted to see my photos in large format instead of on my phone (the worst place to look at photographs!), but also because I wanted to remind myself how cool it is to hold something physical in your hand that you made. It worked.
I've sent a few issues off to other websites and photo type people, but I also want to share Swim Call with you, dear subscriber, as a way of saying thanks for being here. I'll even cover the shipping costs. If you want one, just reply to this email with your address and I'll get one out as long as supplies last and all that.
Let's go for a dip!
John
P.S. This isn't a tricky way to try and "capture" your address. I won't be sharing it with anyone or keeping it on file.
P.P.S I don't have a devoted Swim Call Instagram, but you can always follow #swimcallnews or @jgpeabody for related swimming content.
Here are some things I enjoyed this month:
Kubrick: A great site for the director's 90th birthday. (Kubrick)
The Machine Stops. Oliver Sacks's latest. (The New Yorker)
The Oral History of the Telecaster(Guitar.com)
Things I Never Knew About Skiing Until I Was a Private Instructor in Aspen (Bloomberg)
Lee Friedlander’s Intimate Portraits of His Wife, Through Sixty Years of Marriage (New Yorker)
The Circus Singer and The Godfather of Soul (CNN)
Only halfway through, but The Beastie Boys Book is really, really good! (Penguin)
Remembering Half King (New York Times)
Talking Watches with Gary Shteyngart (Hodinkee)
*If you know someone who would appreciate this email, please consider sharing or sending them here. Thanks!
