Watch
Suntory Whiskey is 100 years old and in this docu-style series, Keanu Reeves heads to Japan to explore the "Nature and Spirit of Japan" and celebrate the anniversary. The videos include the actor visiting the distillery, calligraphers, craftsmen and various beautiful landscapes. It’s not his first partnership with the storied Japanese whiskey distillery. He also worked with them on this one.
Suntory has long relied on celebrities to sell products. Sean Connery, Mickey Rourke and Francis Ford Coppola have also worked with the brand. Suntory is so well known for working with big celebrity talent, it of course even played a major role in Lost In Translation.
For relaxing times, make it Suntory time.
This show with Keanu though is something a little different. It’s not any new kind of branded content, but it feels less like an advertisement than the other work. Even as cringy as influencer work can be, in these new post-social media times, I think we’ll see even more of it and more celebrity work like this.
